James Anderson, Esq.

James grew up in Canon City, Colorado, where he graduated high school.  A few years after high school, James moved to Colorado Springs to pursue college.  In 2011, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  While at UCCS, he joined the mock trial team and found his love for studying the law.  After graduation, James attended law school at the Sturm School of Law at the University of Denver.

He worked full time as an office manager at a public adjusting firm while attending Sturm’s night program.  Here, he became familiar with insurance laws, claims handling procedures, and bad faith claims.  While attending law school, James continued his love of trial practice, winning several outstanding advocate awards with the Student Trial Lawyers Association in his first year and winning outstanding advocate at Sturm’s premier mock trial competition, the Hoffman Cup, in his second year.  He also was runner-up in the Dean’s Cup, a moot court competition that simulates a civil case from the client meeting to trial.

Because of his desire to promote mock trial, James participated in the Instructor’s practicum, where he not only furthered his education in trial practice but also coached the University of Denver’s undergraduate mock trial team.  In his last year, James completed an externship at Ciancio Ciancio Brown, where he got experience in several areas of civil litigation and trial work.  James graduated from Sturm in December of 2015, and passed the bar the following February.

After passing the bar, James worked in civil litigation, working on bad faith, bodily injury, workplace discrimination, and construction defect cases.  In his spare time, James enjoys playing games, riding his motorcycle, and studying martial arts.  He continues to be active in the Colorado Bar Association’s high school mock trial program, coaching D’Evelyn High School’s mock trial team.  James is a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, Colorado Bar Association and Denver Bar Association.  He is also an active volunteer for Sturm’s Trial Advocacy Department, and judges their competitions as often as he can.
